Electricity Upgrade in Timaru Centennial Park

We are proud to serve as your trusted lines company, dedicated to delivering a safe and reliable power supply to South Canterbury.
As part of our ongoing electricity upgrade and maintenance programme in Timaru, we will be undertaking a four-month project to conduct work to remove overhead lines, and lay underground cables in the Centennial Park, Highfield and Glenwood area, from October 2024 to February 2025.

Starting in Centennial Park at the main car park, we will work our way into the residential areas and up to the intersection of Morgans Road and Wai-iti Road.

Our primary goal is to ensure the safety and reliability of our power supply to you. To safely and efficiently complete this work, we’ll need to temporarily interrupt electricity to local homes and businesses. This will involve digging and trenching in front of properties, as well as closing some tracks within a portion of Centennial Park (Scenic Reserve). Traffic management will also be in place.

We understand that these disruptions can be inconvenient, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our team has carefully planned this project to minimise its impact on residents and park users. We’ve also worked to keep power outages as short and as strategically timed as possible.

For those affected by power outages, you will receive a direct outage notification from your retailer, as well as an email from Alpine Energy, confirming the scheduled dates and times for these outages. For those affected by our civil works in front of your property, you will receive a letter in your mailbox which gives more details and a contact number if you have any questions.
