I am Nyssa Winchester, and this is my "Alpine Story"
In September I was thrilled to be selected to travel to Australia to judge for New Zealand at the Oceania Continental Gymnastics Championships. The championships were held in conjunction with the Australian National Gymnastics Championships.
The competition also served as a selection trial for the Youth Olympic Games quota allocation, this was an incredible opportunity!
Unfortunately, it looked like budget constraints would cut me out of the championships. I am an internationally qualified judge, but gymnastics is a minority sport and to explain the magnitude and scale of events I am eligible to attend, is difficult at times.
Imagine my absolute delight when Alpine Energy allocated the much needed funding. The sponsorship allowed me to not only travel with the New Zealand team, but also stay with them, and attend two presentations, one being from the International Gymnastics Federation delegate from China as well as the two event panels I was a member of. To be part of such a knowledgeable environment was an incredible privilege, and an experience I'll never forget, I look forward to passing on my experience and skills to the next generation.
