It was big grins all round following the successful Alpine Energy Model Railway Expo held at Roncalli College in July.
Organiser Andrew Milliken was delighted with the increased turnout this year, with an extra 500 people boosting numbers over the weekend to 2000, resulting in a profit of $2200 to pass on to Hospice South Canterbury.
Hospice general manager Peter O’Neill (right) passed on his thanks to show committee member Donald Goodman (left), Andrew and Alpine Energy’s group manager, corporate services, Michael Boorer when they visited.
"It’s great to see people supporting this biennial event, gaining pleasure from viewing some pretty amazing displays while at the same time supporting the community. A win-win all round," Peter said.
