Alpine Energy Chief Executive Andrew Tombs announced that Mr. Steve Thompson has been elected by the Board as Chairman.

Mr. Thompson took up the role of Chairman following Ian Bowan's decision not to stand for reappointment at the end of a 3 year term. Mr. Bowan had served 20 years on the Board of Alpine and its predecessor South Canterbury Power Limited, the previous 12 of which had been as Chairman.

Ian's service to Alpine was formally recognised at Alpine's Annual General Meeting held in July 2012. Timaru District Council Mayor Janie Annear speaking on behalf of Timaru District Holdings Ltd, a shareholder in Alpine, thanked Mr. Bowan for his dedicated service to Alpine Energy and the former SCEPB.

The Board and Management of Alpine also gave tribute to Mr. Bowan at a special function in his honour.

In congratulating Steve to his new role Mr. Tombs says; "Steve brings considerable commercial expertise and has played a pivotal role in the governance of Alpine since his appointment to the Board in July 1999".
"Steve's continual drive for excellence, value-creation, and efficiency will help ensure the momentum of what has been achieved under Mr. Bowan will continue well into the future. It's a very exciting time for Alpine".
Mr. Thompson holds directorships with a number of companies and is also Board Member and Managing Partner with Deloitte in Dunedin.

Joining Alpine's Board as Mr. Bowan's replacement is Mr. Warren Bell. Mr. Bell who holds a depth of industry knowledge and experience in public company directorships has been appointed to the Board for a 3 year term by Alpine shareholder Timaru District Holdings Ltd.
Mr. Bell was formally welcomed to the Board at a special Board meeting immediately following Alpine's AGM in July.
